What are house concerts?

House concerts, quite frankly, are a GREAT idea that is sweeping the musical landscape, right across the globe.

House concerts are for those who are music lovers and like to listen to great music by world class performers, up close and personal.

It involves putting on a small intimate concert with your favourite performer in the comfort of your own home and inviting only the people you wish to share in the evening with you. You provide the room, an audience of appreciative listeners, the seating, and any nibblies you choose to serve.

It's that simple.

FAQ's

Why a houseconcert? We believe there are several reasons: This is the best way, by far, to see your favourite artist perform. Intimate, up close and fun. It's also generally much cheaper than seeing your favourite artist at a recognised venue. You only invite who you want to be there. House concerts helps the artist, as all proceeds from the night go to the artist, rather than the venue and agencies etc

Our only stipulation is that guests come to listen and enjoy.

How does it work? Pick an artist, and fill out our online enquiry form. We then put you in touch with the artist and you discuss the details with them from there.

How many guests should I invite? As many as you can fit in comfortably. Adequate seating is recommended.

What does it cost? It costs the host virtually nothing. Guests donate a small amount at the door to cover the artists expenses.  As there are virtually no overheads, costs are minimal.

Can we organise the concert to be a fundraiser? By all means! Our artists are all generous and compassionate souls who like to help where they can.

How does the artist benefit?

Donations raised on the night go exclusively to the artist, unless prior arrangements have been made regarding charities and fund raising.

How long does the artist play for? Usually about 1 1/2 hrs, depending on the artist.

How can aussiehouseconcerts help?

Our job is to let you know about house concerts, how to run them and to set you up with artists we feel are world class.

When you make an enquiry, you will fill out an  enquiry form and we will link you with the artist of your choice to discuss the details of your event. An enquiry is not a confirmation or committment to book, it's as it says, just an enquiry.

Does aussiehouseconcerts get paid? There is no cost to the client for our services, the artist pays a small goodwill donation for our service.

Do I need a liscence or council permission to run a house concert? The short answer is no. This is no different to running a bbq or party in your house. Due to the acoustic nature of the concert, and the attentive listening audience, noise levels should be well within the acceptable range. We've not heard of any issues to date. However if you are concerned, make sure you invite your neighbours! If unsure, check with your local council.

The artist I want, isn't on your list! No problem! Our artists are hand selected by us for quality, professionalism, and...well...because we really like them. Besides that, our artists all have a fabulous track record both here and internationally for their involvement in house concerts already. However, should you have an artist in mind, we are more than happy to put you intouch with them and see if they would like to be involved. That's what we do!

Does the artist need clear access to bring in their equipment? It's preferable, but most of the artists wont have much gear with them. Check on this with the artist when you do the booking.

What if we don't get the numbers coming we'd hoped for? Most of our artists will have a minimum fee for a performance, to make it worth their while. Some will be travelling long distances. Again this should be negotiated with the artist. Our suggestion is to ask a few extra and squeeze them in if need be.

Do we provide accommodation for the artist? This is optional and something you would negotiate with the artist themselves.

Do we need to provide sound gear? Not usually, as our artists have their own suitable sound gear. Often sound gear is not required however, due to the intimate nature of the concert.

Can we purchase CD's and merchandise at the concert? Yes, all of our artists have CD's and merchandise available and some are signed to major labels.

Is there a cancellation policy? That is usually negotiated with the artist themselves.

What about Public Liability? Artists should all have public liability cover these days to cover themselves and their audience during a performance. Check with the artist before booking.
